When you choose to take your car or your dog on holiday with you, there are some things that you need to take care of before and during the trip. Naturally, first of all, you need to make sure that you’ll have enough food for the pet during the trip and that it’ll have easy access to water. But you’ll also have some red tape to figure out as well. The pet will need it’s passport and all shots up to date, as well as a note from the vet saying that it’s in good health to travel. It will also need to be micro chipped.

Most airline companies allow pets, but for an extra cost. It should be made clear by the company how much you’ll have to pay for your pet and what kind of carrier the animal will need to be transported in. Some countries will demand that the pet be checked by the airport vet before departure.

When you arrive at your destination you need to be aware that you’re fully responsible not only for your pet’s health, but also for the pet not disturbing others in any way. You might also want to consider getting the services of a car hire company. It’ll be better for your pet if you have your own means of transport.

Located in the South West of England, Somerset is one of the prettiest counties in the country, and something definitely worth a visit. The county is relatively small and it’s not very densely populated, and that’s a breath of fresh air, considering that so many places in England are crowded, especially around the large cities of London, Manchester and Liverpool. However, not having a massive metropolitan area sort of means that public transport is slightly less effective, so you should probably go to a Somerset car hire company and get a cheap car to get you around the county.

The biggest cities in Somerset are Wells and Bath. Wells is an incredibly pretty town, one of the prettiest I’ve visited in my journeys around the British Isles. Wells is very well known for its Cathedral, built between 1175 and 1490. It’s an English Heritage site and has been described as the most poetic and romantic of English cathedrals.

The other major town, Bath, is also quite stunning. Bath has been an important town since the Roman times, and you can still visit the Roman baths in town. But the most stunning piece of architecture in the city is the Royal Crescent, a set of buildings designed in crescent shape.

Taking on the old dusty roads of a foreign country is probably the best way of getting to know it. Nothing like figuring out a foreign language through road signs or warning labels on the highway to really immerse you in the culture. You’ll also enjoy the freedom of not being trapped in a hotel or subject to a tour guide’s schedule.

Luckily for the driving traveler, the internet exists. You can now book your car online and make sure it’s ready for you as soon as you step foot at the airport. And you’ll be able to find some cheap car hire deals that way too. You should, however, watch out for possible mix ups and some smaller rent a car companies are a little dodgy when it comes to foreigners.

Another cool use for the Internet is actually finding someone or a group of people who have done what you’re about to do and can give you advice on it. Hearing a local person talk about it is one thing, but having someone who was in the same situation as you talk about it and tell you how they survived it is a whole new level of helpful.
