Scandinavia on a budget

Posted on 20 June 2010 by admin

Europe is a very diverse country that has something to offer to anyone going to visit on holiday. You’d think that such a relatively small continent would be somewhat homogenous in its nature, but that is not the case at all.

When you think of European cruise deals, you probably think of Mediterranean cruises, or cruises around the Portuguese islands in the Atlantic. But one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, and one that can be thoroughly enjoyed on a cruise ship, is Scandinavia.

Whether you pay the Scandinavian countries a visit by Summer or Winter, you won’t be disappointed. Just be prepared for a very cold Winter – they are famous for their freezing temperatures.

Scandinavia is the pinnacle of progress in many different ways. You’ll experience well developed urban areas where traffic isn’t a problem and that accommodate people from all walks of life. You’ll be able to enjoy carefully protected and maintained natural areas that are the pride of a people who, despite being modern in just about any way, also seek to preserve their cultural roots and their natural heritage.

In the Summer, the Northern Sea is still cold, but everything else heats up. Scandinavians are a friendly people, be careful not to party too hard with them.

The Location of Your Accommodation

Posted on 12 June 2010 by admin

Depending on the circumstances, the type of holiday, and your own personal preference, the best location for your accommodation will vary. For example, if your trip is just for business, you may want to find cheap hotels at Heathrow Airport for the best accessibility.

If you have the use of your own car, or will be hiring a car, your accommodation can be just about anywhere. You can take advantage of the cheaper hotel rates outside of the city center and commute in, or be right on the beach if you prefer.

Many individuals will rely on taxis and public transportation to get around on their holiday. If this is the case, you will want to be in the city center. Easy and quick accessibility to your hotel can make the difference at the end of an exhausting day full of sightseeing. City public transportation also often stops after a certain time at night, which means you could be stranded if you plan on staying out late. Being within walking distance of your hotel is always a good idea.

If you’re set on a beach holiday, you should check out resorts or luxury hotels right on the coast. This will give you the easiest accessibility to the beach, without the need to commute from the city.

Luxury and Quiet

Posted on 12 June 2010 by admin

When the droning of the city traffic becomes too loud to stand, you know that you’re in need of a vacation. And when you’re searching for your little place of peace and quiet, why not add luxury to the equation?

Luxury holidays are the ultimate lazy holidays. Whether you’re staying in luxury hotels Warwickshire or in some remote island of the Atlantic, the standard of excellent and of doing things for you will always be similar. Yes, they will do most things for you. And I don’t mean just tidying your room, which, by the way, is excellent. It’s not like I’m accustomed to leaving my room in a mess every day, but knowing that I’m coming back to my beautiful hotel room with a view and the bed will be made and everything will be clean gives me some sense of inner peace.

Then, of course, there’s the matter of the facilities and extras that a luxury hotel offers. I personally like to go on long weekends to nice hotels just for the experience of having a gym, a pool, a sauna and a spa all in the same place, and only an elevator ride away from my room. Pure bliss.

Road tripping abroad

Posted on 16 May 2010 by admin

Taking on the old dusty roads of a foreign country is probably the best way of getting to know it. Nothing like figuring out a foreign language through road signs or warning labels on the highway to really immerse you in the culture. You’ll also enjoy the freedom of not being trapped in a hotel or subject to a tour guide’s schedule.

Luckily for the driving traveler, the internet exists. You can now book your car online and make sure it’s ready for you as soon as you step foot at the airport. And you’ll be able to find some cheap car hire deals that way too. You should, however, watch out for possible mix ups and some smaller rent a car companies are a little dodgy when it comes to foreigners.

Another cool use for the Internet is actually finding someone or a group of people who have done what you’re about to do and can give you advice on it. Hearing a local person talk about it is one thing, but having someone who was in the same situation as you talk about it and tell you how they survived it is a whole new level of helpful.

On a stag weekend in Budapest, you can get your adrenalin pumping on a cross country quad ride. There are also several quad tracks if that’s more your style. And, if you just want to have a little fun without the challenge, you and your friends can check out the go kart tracks.

In Budapest, you can blast the day away with a variety of weapons. There are several places where you can target practice, or test your skill at clay pigeon shooting. And, if you really like the big guns, then there’s places where you can shoot an AK47.
